*APC will take over Abia in 2027

The Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly and former two-term governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has issued a strong warning against the growing tendency to overrate Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.
Kalu, who governed the state between 1999 and 2007, said the current governor is not accomplishing extraordinary feats that justify the widespread praise and enthusiasm surrounding his administration.
The former governor insisted that his record as governor remains unmatched and easily verifiable. He pointed out that during his eight-year tenure, he implemented a number of development projects across the state – the documents of which, he said, are available to anyone who wants to check.
In a pointed comparison of state finances, Kalu noted the massive improvement in revenue inflows under the current dispensation. “What is coming into the coffers of Abia State now is much, much more than what I received as governor,” he stated categorically.
He went further to make a bold political prediction, bluntly declaring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will take the reins of power in Abia State in the 2027 governorship election.
Kalu’s remarks have sparked fresh debate in political circles in Abia, coming at a time when stakeholders continue to evaluate the performance of the Otti-led administration against residents’ expectations.
The senator, who now serves as a leading member of the APC, appears determined to drum up support for his party’s takeover bid while defending his legacy as a former governor.
The comments have already sparked reactions from supporters of the current governor, who argue that Otti’s reforms speak for themselves. However, Kalu remains firm in his position that the hype around the incumbent is exaggerated and that Abia’s future lies in the APC in 2027.
