…promises to ensure Tinubu’s re-election
The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has passed a vote of implicit confidence in its Chairman, Senator Hope Uzodimma and his Deputy, Governor Uba Sani.
The vote of confidence, expressed during a closed-door meeting of governors in Abuja, was reiterated at a press conference held later.
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, made the motion and was assisted by his Kaduna State counterpart, Alhaji Uba Sani.
The second motion after the press conference followed a journalist’s question on the alleged removal of Uzodimma from the PGF presidency.
Dr Idris explained that more than 23 governors present at the meeting in Abuja reiterated their confidence in Uzodimma to lead the forum.
According to him, the fact that Uzodimma chaired the meeting with his deputy was enough evidence to authenticate his leadership.
While advising the media to be cautious in the stories they publish, Dr Idris urged them to always confirm the sources and veracity of their information.
Uzodimma also assured that the PGF is united and will not worry about spreading fake news.
He told journalists that APC governors are currently occupied on how to best work towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“As you know, just two days ago, we accompanied His Excellency Vice President Shettima to submit President Tinubu’s nomination forms, indicating that he is recontesting. We just had a meeting to reaffirm our unwavering support for him,” he said.
Uzodimma said the forum has decided to support Tinubu 100% to secure his re-election and will therefore not subject itself to any kind of distraction or blackmail
According to him, their support for Tinubu was underpinned by his pragmatic reforms that put Nigeria on the side of economic growth while strengthening its infrastructure.
He asked Nigerians to appreciate the sacrifices of the President by ensuring his re-election so that he could complete the beautiful work he had started.
