2026: INEC begins another phase of continuous voter registration nationwide

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of Phase III of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled for May 11, 2026, across Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, INEC said the exercise will take place simultaneously through online pre-registration and physical registration, in person, at designated centers nationwide.

The Commission explained that the Phase III exercise will operate according to the IVED rotation system previously adopted in Phase II, as part of efforts to ensure an orderly and efficient registration process.

According to INEC, the exercise will last two months and is expected to end on 10 July 2026, in line with the approved CVR calendar.

He urged eligible Nigerians who are yet to register, transfer their voter details or replace lost or damaged permanent voter cards to take advantage of the opportunity within the stipulated period.

INEC added that continuous voter registration remains critical to strengthening inclusive participation in Nigeria’s electoral process.

The CVR is being held ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The elections are scheduled for January and February 2027.
