A report by Platforms Africa said Okere, who until her death was a staff member of Dangote Group’s communications department, died 19 months after burying her late mother, Mrs Victoria Inegbonoise, in January 2023.

The news of his disappearance was confirmed on Monday by the editor of The Guardian newspaper, Femi Adekoya, after an investigation on the WhatsApp group of the National Association of Energy Correspondents (NAEC).

“Yes, it is true that Roseline is dead. We can contact her husband and commiserate with the family,” Adekoya wrote.

This was also reiterated by the president of NAEC, Ugo Amadi, who declared that he had called the victim’s husband to confirm the news.

“A beautiful ROSE has gone to the Lord. What sad news! I just spoke with her husband to commiserate with the whole family. We will truly miss her.

“As we mourn our beloved colleagues, I pray that we can find time to reflect on what the purpose of life truly is. Please reach out to the husband and commiserate with him. I pray for God’s grace upon us all. Goodnight Rose,” Amadi said.

A deputy editor of the daily Thisday, Ejiofor Alike, added: “Jesus Christ is Lord! What a world! What vanity! What is the purpose of life in reality! May God accept his soul and comfort his family – IJN!”

Adding his voice to the condolence message, former NAEC President, Emeka Ugwuanyi, wrote: “What is more beautiful than Rose? That is what I called her whenever we met. May God grant her soul eternal rest and comfort her nuclear and extended family, colleagues and members of NAEC.

“Nagafe dika kpakpando ututu”. This is an Igbo hymn that vividly explains the vanity of human existence and the futility of our insatiable appetite for material things, which consequently drives us to greed, envy, cheating, corruption, backstabbing, undue blackmail and more.

“Let’s try to be as sincere and true to ourselves as possible, to treat others as we would like to be treated. It’s just one day and one day only, the owner of the breath will take it and the person will leave as he came, with absolutely nothing.

“Let us try to leave good footprints on our earthly path, because we will be remembered only for our works when we are no longer here.

“May God grant the souls of all the departed eternal rest and teach us to number our days.”
