Defense Industries Corporation signs $ 2 billion in partnership with SP Offshore

This was contained in a declaration signed by the deputy director of public information/media, Lieutenant Colonel Haruna Mohammed Sani and made available to basic journalists on Wednesday.
The DG Dicon, the major Babunde General Ibrahim Alaya, while speaking during the ceremony, stated that the partnership would reach the projection of the federal government to achieve self -sufficiency in defense production, reducing foreign imports by the year 2027 as indicated in the Dicon Act 2023.

General Alaya added that collaboration would not only strengthen Nigeria’s defense skills, but would also have positioned the country as a regional leader in the production of defense with the potential to export an excess capacity towards other African nations.
“The historical partnership marks a transformative step towards achieving the vision of the Nigeria of the solid military-industrial complex,” said DG Dicon.
General Alaya also stated that with the advanced technological skills of SP offshore and its support from foreign investors, the partnership would produce world -level defense equipment manufactured locally in terms of self -sufficiency to support regional safety.
He added that by exploiting the cutting -edge skills of SP offshore and the infrastructures established by Dicon, the joint venture would improve the military skills of Nigeria, create jobs and guide technological innovation. The DG Dicon thanks President C-in-C of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for signing the Dicon Act 2023, which allows Dicon to enter this partnership. He also appreciated the HMOD, Hmmd, CDs and service leaders, for their continuous support to Dicon.
Speaking also, the CEO of the group, Obafemi Adekunle, said that the partnership would also establish the state production structures in Nigeria for the production of ammunition, light weapons, drones and advanced defense systems tailored to the needs of the armed forces of Nigeria and other safety agencies.
He also said that the joint venture will also focus on the creation of assembly lines for ammunition, weapons, drones, radars, biometric systems and other critical defense equipment.
