Iran threatens to attack any Gulf country that helps the US

Iran has threatened to attack any country in the Persian Gulf that provides assistance to the United States in the ongoing conflict.

Iran’s armed forces issued a threat on Wednesday saying it would be tantamount to joining American military operations.

“We would like to warn that any assistance or facilitation provided to US military aggressors is tantamount to participation in US military operations,” armed forces chief of staff Ali Abdollahi said, according to Iran’s Mehr news agency.

War between Iran and the United States broke out on February 28 after a US-Israeli attack on the Islamic republic, which responded with missile and drone attacks including on US bases across the region.

“It seems unlikely that large numbers of military aircraft, especially refueling aircraft, could be present at regional bases without the host country’s knowledge,” Abdollahi said.

“Countries bordering the Persian Gulf, who have issued statements saying they will not allow the United States to use their territory against Iran, should know that we are fully aware of the situation.”

The warning comes as the aircraft carrier USS George Washington is redeployed to the Middle East to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln following reports of deteriorating living conditions for its crew.
