Oyo Police: We are analyzing the video of the principal and the abducted pupils

The Oyo State Police Command has begun analyzing the viral video of the abducted students and the principal of the community school in Orire Local Government Area of ​​the state.

It would be recalled that gunmen on Friday invaded Oriire Local Government Area of ​​Oyo State and attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School and LA Primary School, Ahoro Esinele, where some pupils, students, teachers and the Deputy Principal, Alamu Folawe, were abducted.

A vice-principal identified as Adesiyan and a commercial motorcyclist, who reportedly resisted the gunmen’s attempts to forcibly take over his motorbike, were killed in the attack.

However, a video surfaced online on Sunday of the deputy principal released online by the kidnappers calling on the federal government and Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde to come to their aid.

Reacting to the video, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the footage had undergone a full forensic examination.

Olayinka said the examination will help determine their authenticity and aid ongoing investigations, rescue operations, identification and arrest of the kidnappers.

He assured residents of Oyo State of the unwavering commitment of the police to ensure the safe return of all abducted persons to their families.

“To this end, intensive operational, intelligence-led and tactical efforts are underway in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure that victims are unharmed and bring all perpetrators to justice,” Olayinka said.

The police spokesperson urged citizens to remain calm, law-abiding and continue to cooperate with the police and other security agencies by providing credible and timely information that would assist ongoing operations and investigations.
