Police officers in Kaduna have arrested two siblings for allegedly burying a man alive in the Zaria area of the state.
State police command spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday in Kaduna.
He said the suspect was arrested after a video showing a person buried with only his head left was circulated to the public.
The spokesman said: “Immediately after the police became aware of the video, efforts were made to locate the 20-year-old victim from Gauraki village in Kufena district, Zaria council area, and possibly arrest the perpetrators.
“Initial investigations revealed that the victim and the two suspects worked as laborers at a construction site in Abuja.
“The mobile phone of one of the suspects worth N35,000 was stolen at the place where they were all staying.

“The victim is suspected of having stolen the cellphone, so the two suspects agreed that the victim’s daily wages would be used to buy another cellphone as a replacement.
“The victim left Abuja for Zaria, where he was eventually followed by the suspects who are siblings.
“On August 10, the suspects found the victim and forcibly took her to an unfinished building and dug up the ground that resembled a grave.
“They tied his hands and feet, covered his mouth with a piece of cloth, put him in a hole, and put the soil back in, leaving only his head outside.
“They left the victim in that condition until a passerby heard her groans and alerted the public before she was rescued.”
