Senator Ali Ndume, which represents Borno South in the National Assembly, suggested the possibility of joining an opposition coalition in view of the general elections of 2027 if President Bola Tinubu cannot face the growing challenges of the country.
Ndume, a prominent member of the All Progressive Congress sentence (APC), revealed that he has already participated in several meetings with opposition figures who have planned to disperse President Tinubu, noting that he would not hesitate to change fields if things did not improve.
Speaking of Arise TV Tuesday, the Senator said he still believed in the President’s ability to deliver his mandate, but he warned that the continuous performance could sink the APC ship that the deserters could overwhelm.
Ndume said: “I am aware of the opposition coalition. I participated in many of their meetings. I still believe that this president can repair things, but if he fails, this could force me to move. People are distinguishing themselves in the party due to the approach of the carrot and the government stick. The overloaded ship will sank”
“They contacted me, but I told them that I don’t want to jump from the pan in the fire. I have to be sure where I am going.
“I thought that President Tinubu could be a successful leader – this was my expectation. But if he continues in this way, he doesn’t matter how many people or governors brings to the party, you are just endangering the APC and pushing it towards the collapse.
“As the president once said, there is a vacant place in the ship. But if you overload it, it will overturn – and if it turns, everyone goes around.”
Ndume also criticized the lack of ideological commitment among politicians, accusing many of joining parties not based on principles but because of what has described as “indirect stick-and-carot policy”.
“I feel that when you build a house and is loss, you don’t abandon it: stay and fix it,” he added
